Feeding Management Cage broiler grouping considerations

Oct. 15, 2024

Caged broilers are divided into groups 2-3 times during the rearing process. The choice of time and the number of groups can obviously affect the uniformity of the flock in the later stage, which in turn affects the growth of the flock and the indexes of the later stage.

First flock separation

The first grouping on the first day of the first day of the chick, from the chicken box to the cage, it should be noted that it is mainly a thank you preparatory work before brooding, the main purpose is to transfer the chick to the cage as soon as possible after the chick enters the farm. This requires that we need to calculate the number of chickens in each cage according to the specific number of chickens, in order to split the cage as soon as possible, the number of chickens does not need to be strictly in accordance with the number of calculated chickens, such as 35,000 chickens on the 1m * 1.25m cages a total of 68 cages/columns * 7 columns, calculating the number of cages 75 only (1 cage of 25 only in the later stage of the average of 20 per square), the chicken can be put in four cages of 3 frames of chickens, each box is divided into four compartments, that is, each cage to put 3 In other words, each cage puts 3 frames of chickens, which is about 75 chickens. Then each column behind the remaining 1 frame empty cage.

Attention

1、Pre-heat the chickens to the target temperature in advance before they come, lower it to 28-30 degrees before entering the chickens, and then gradually raise it to the target temperature after the chickens are loaded.

2, on the chicken as much as possible to ensure that the chickens into the cage as soon as possible, so brooding pre-preparation work must be done comprehensively, including the water line, troughs, feeding small barrels, regulating boards, blocking the chicken belt and so on should be adjusted appropriately.

3、After the chicks enter the house, according to the distribution of the chickens, adjust the target temperature in time to ensure that the chickens are dispersed as soon as possible.

4、Attention to timely humidification, as soon as possible to achieve the target humidity (65-70%)

Second flock separation

This time the flock is generally synchronized with the immunization, the immunization at the same time the flock, usually in 7-9 days. Most of the time from 1 layer to 2 layers, some cage equipment can be directly divided into 3 layers. Most of the 2 layers are from the middle layer to the upper layer of the cage, and the upper layer of the brooder from the upper layer to the middle layer. There are also two ways of thinking when putting chickens, one is to put 1/3 of the number of chickens in the upper layer, the middle 2/3 of the number of chickens, the advantage of this is that the third flock is easier to save time and effort, the stress of the chickens is small, the disadvantage is that it is more difficult to feed, easy to cause uneven feeding; the second is to put the same number of chickens in the two layers, so that the operation of the relative feeding is more even, but increased the difficulty of the third flock, the flock of chickens is also large when the stress of the flock.

Preparation and precautions before flocking:

1、Rinse the water line to be used in advance, wipe the trough clean, and turn the fecal belt to discharge the water on the fecal belt before dividing the flock.

2. Cover the top of the upper cage with film or plastic paper to avoid the cold wind falling into the upper cage, especially in the renovated chicken house of flat rearing (the height of the roof is too low).

3、Target temperature before the group is divided according to the temperature curve normal cooling, after the group is divided according to the chicken target temperature increase 1-2 degrees. The final decision will be made according to the distribution of chickens.

Third flock separation

The third flock is generally around 16-18 days, is also the last flock, the principle of this flock can be divided into three layers of chickens, assuming that the number of chickens can not be divided evenly can take the number of chickens in the lower layer > number of chickens in the upper layer > number of chickens in the middle layer of the principle of flock division.

The preparation of this flock is basically the same as the second, in addition to the attention to the preparatory work and the temperature and humidity, attention should be paid to the ventilation, especially the back end of the coop, pay attention to check the sealing of the coop and the manure ditch, to avoid the lower layer of chickens in the back end of the flock to be cooled. In addition, try to ensure that the number of chickens in the upper and lower layers of the cage is sufficient, and the middle layer of the cage is even, so that it is easy to operate.

Other precautions for dividing cages:

1, before dividing the group proper control of materials but must not control water; to prevent excessive stress after the chicken is full of food, while strictly prohibit the occurrence of water cuts. (Note that the new cage cage layer should be adjusted in advance the height of the water line and water pressure, while the trough with good material, the chickens are divided into cages the first time there is water to drink, there is material to eat so as to reduce the stress)

2、Dimming the lights. Dim the lights to prevent the chickens from getting too excited when they are divided into groups, and at the same time, we should give some electrolytic multivitamin or VC to improve the anti-stress ability.

3、According to the state of the chickens in the outside temperature, raise the temperature of the coop appropriately, but pay attention to not too high, and increase the cooling rate appropriately according to the condition of the chickens 2-3 days after the separation of the cage. (Preheat the cage layer in advance if the floor heating pipe is laid in the chicken coop)

4, the principle of cage: should take the “share early, not late” “stay weak, not stay strong” principle, the middle layer of brooders, if the larger weight of the healthy chick on the upper and lower layers, the weak chick to stay. In summer, due to the high temperature can be appropriately divided into cages in advance, in winter, due to the temperature difference between the upper and lower layers of the cage, can be appropriately delayed in the division of the cage time, and the lower layer of the cage to put more than one, in order to reduce the temperature difference between the upper and lower layers.
